Corinthians, Palmeiras and Santos have confirmed their spots in the semifinals of the Paulista Championship. The last spot will be filled on Monday night (3), when São Paulo and Novorizontino face off at Morumbis, starting at 8pm (Brasília time). Palmeiras was the first to secure a spot in the semifinals, with a 2-0 victory over São Bernardo, in São Bernardo do Campo, last Saturday (1). On Sunday (2), Corinthians won against Mirassol, by the same score, at the Neo Química Arena, and Santos beat Red Bull Bragantino also by 2-0, at Vila Belmiro. The match between São Paulo and Novorizontino will define the remaining semifinalist.
The teams with the best overall campaign, Corinthians and Palmeiras, will not face each other and will have the advantage of playing at home in the single match. At the moment, Timão has the best campaign, with 30 points, followed by Palmeiras with 26. Santos has 21, while São Paulo and Novorizontino have 19 and 18 points, respectively.
If São Paulo beats Novorizontino, they will surpass Santos in the overall classification and face Palmeiras in the semi-final at Allianz Parque. The other spot in the final would be disputed between Corinthians and Santos, at the Neo Química Arena. If São Paulo draws with Novorizontino and wins on penalties, they will have the worst overall campaign among the qualifiers and face Corinthians at the Neo Química Arena.
